The six casinos in Maryland saw their aggregated gross gaming revenues for May rise by almost 31% year-on-year to stand at over $136.46 million thanks in large part to the recently-opened MGM National Harbor development in Prince George’s County.
According to official ps from the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Commission, the $1.4 billion MGM National Harbor opened on December 8 and generated $50.55 million in gross gaming revenues from its slot and table games last month. The property owned by Las Vegas-based MGM Resorts International reported average May daily takings from each of its 3,137 slots of $273.10 while the p for its 126 banked gaming tables reached $5,708.55 with its 39 non-banked offerings reporting $1,403.19.
The regulator revealed that when these results are excluded, Maryland actually saw its aggregated gross gaming revenues for May decline by 17.7% year-on-year to stand at about $85.91 million.
The ps show that the state’s second largest casino, the Live! Casino & Hotel near Baltimore, detailed a 22.3% diminution year-on-year in gross gaming revenues for the 31-day period to $45.89 million. Owned by The Cordish Companies, the Anne Arundel County facility revealed $241.64 in average daily takings for each of its 3,980 slots in May while the p for its 150 banked gaming tables came in at $3,144.97 with its 52 non-banked tables r 7BALL eporting $880.73.
Nearby and the ps were similarly pessimistic for the Horseshoe Baltimore as the facility reported an 18.1% drop year-on-year in May gross gaming revenues to $23.59 million with its 2,202 slots each racking up an average daily tally of $184.25. Run by a consortium that includes Jack Entertainment and Caesars Entertainment Corporation, the casino’s 152 banked gaming tables averaged $2,215.64 per day for the month while the p for the enterprise’s 25 non-banked offerings came in at $729.61.
Further afield and the Hollywood Casino near the small town of Perryville saw its May gross gaming revenues decline by 7.8% year-on-year to $6.35 million as each its 846 slots reported average daily takings of $204.91. The Cecil County casino operated by Gaming and Leisure Properties Incorporated moreover saw its twelve banked gaming tables record average daily takings for the month of $2,406.17 with its eight non-banked offerings chalking up a p of $354.60.
However, May results were not lower everywhere as Allegany County’s Rocky Gap Casino Resort saw its monthly tally swell by 7.4% year-on-year to $4.75 million as each of its 662 slots generated average daily takings of $199.24. Located just over eight miles from the city of Cumberland, the facility additionally offers 17 banked gaming tables and revealed each of these averaged daily revenues for the month of $1,244.53.
Finally, the Casino at Ocean Downs in Worcester County saw its May revenues increase by 3.3% year-on-year to $5.31 million with each of its 800 slots recording average daily takings of $214.27.
